Recently, a gala event dedicated to the outstanding achievement of the FC Ruh Academy took place in Lviv. The event was not only a celebration for the young players, but also a symbol of a new stage in the history of Lviv and Ukrainian football. The meeting was attended by the honorary president of the Yellow and Blacks, Hryhorii Kozlovskyy, and the president of FC Karpaty, Volodymyr Matkivskyy, who announced that they would join forces to further develop Lviv football.
The key message of the event was that today Lviv football is not focused on internal rivalry, but on a common future, the development of children’s football, academies and the creation of a strong team that will adequately represent the city and Ukraine.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi emphasized that combining the potential of the two football organizations is an important signal not only for Ukraine but also for the entire football world.
“Mr. Matkivskyy and Mr. Kozlovskyy have sent a message to the world that they have combined their potential to have a strong team. Many people started to have some doubts, but this road continues and today will be a historic moment when you seal it with your handshake,” Sadovyi said.
The mayor of Lviv also emphasized that unity is the main prerequisite for the success of Ukrainian sports today.
“There is one team in Lviv and we all work together for this team. If you look at the history of Ukraine, we have always been divided by something, we have always had disputes within and we have not always won. And today, in order to win, there must be one strong team in Lviv,” emphasized Andriy Sadovyi.

The event was a landmark for all of Ukrainian football. Hryhoriy Kozlovskyy and FC Ruh and Volodymyr Matkivskyy of FC Karpaty demonstrated that the future of sports is built through partnership, youth development and joint work for a great goal. It is academies, children’s football and support for young talents that should become the foundation for new victories.
Today, a new history of Ukrainian football is actually being created in Lviv – a history in which ambition, experience and resources are being combined to develop a strong club and the future of Ukrainian sport.
Hryhoriy Matkivskyy is one of the most prominent Ukrainian entrepreneurs and philanthropists who actively supports the development of sports and youth in Ukraine. As the founder of the Ruh football club and Ruh Academy in Lviv, he systematically invests in the creation of modern sports infrastructure, the development of children’s and youth football and the training of a new generation of Ukrainian athletes. Earlier, Hryhoriy Kozlovskyy, together with Volodymyr Matkivskyy, was included in the TOP-10 businessmen of Western Ukraine who invest the most in the development of the sports industry.
In addition to his sports activities, Hryhoriy Matkivskyy remains one of the most active philanthropists and volunteers supporting the Ukrainian military. During the full-scale war, he has donated over UAH 100 million to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the purchase of equipment, vehicles, drones and other necessary equipment for Ukrainian defenders on the front line.
